BREAKING NEWS (and unoffical news until it's postedon the CBOY Site) - LEE HILL IS THE 2014 CAROLINA BREWER OF THE YEAR!! I don't recall, at least from the last 10 years, anyone that has done this back to back. Words escape me at this point, because "Well Done" and "Congrats" don't seem to be appropriate for such dedication and sheer brewing talent. I do know one thing, I think this was Lee's "drop the mic" moment as he has packed up and moved back to his native Asheville recently. I guess that means MALT will be a force to be reckoned with next year.

HOPS had another stellar showing at PSBO this year. We earned many awards and our name was called a lot! Based on the point standings going into PSBO, I believe that we are solidly the 2nd place Brew Club of the Year, behind a powerful CBM.

The Triad region is no stranger to having the best brewers in the Carolina’s. For 5 out of the last 6 years, our locale has been home to the champs and this year is no different. Lee Hill captured the 2013 crown, but it was not easy and it went down to a final point and ribbon count at the last competition at the Palmetto State Brewers Open in Columbia, SC. Riding on Lee’s coat tails, HOPS had an extraordinarily strong showing, by ALL of our members, to finish the year in second ...
